Text Box: Physiotherapy .................. We have seven physiotherapists who work at *Ascend, including postgraduate Sports and Musculoskeletal physiotherapists. All our physiotherapists have extensive treatment experience and have worked with sporting teams and associations. What is Physiotherapy? .............................. Seems a simple question, but for those of you that don’t understand it well, physiotherapy Is a safe, professional, evidence-based system of looking at problems with the way the body moves, functions and holds itself Has different fields including sports, musculoskeletal (aches and pains/movement disorders), cardiorespiratory (post-surgery, pulmonary disorders etc.), neurology (stroke, head injury rehabilitation), paediatrics and other specialties At *Ascend, we see everyone from elite athletes to every body, and we find solutions to reduce pain, get people moving and get you involved in whatever your goals may be. Standard physiotherapy consultations involve taking a history of your injury, performing assessment and testing to form a diagnosis and providing treatment and a rehabilitation plan that is tailored to your injury, your body and your goals. Other services our physios perform include gym technique assessments, exercise prescription and post-operative rehabilitation. Not sure if your injury is something which can be managed with physiotherapy? You may be surprised! Call us to ask. Our physiotherapists are committed to being up to date with the latest evidence in sports medicine and pain management, we all undertake regular professional development, and two of our physios are actively involved in research. Postgraduate physiotherapists have completed a masters degree in their relevant field, while our senior physiotherapists have over ten years experience. Fees as at May 2011: Postgraduate Physiotherapy - $120 initial (1 hour), $80 follow up Senior Physiotherapy - $75 initial and follow up (30 mins) Physiotherapy - $70 initial (30mins - 1 hour) and 30 mins follow up Massage .......... We have three massage therapists operating at the clinic, all fully qualified with diplomas of remedial massage, which means your massage therapy can be claimed on private health insurance. Massage rates are $80 for a one hour massage. Dietetics and Sports Medicine ......................................
